40 days

We can hardly believe it, but we are now officially 40 days away from leaving for Uganda (Lord willing, of course). On one hand, that seems like forever away, but we know that it will fly by. Before we know it, we'll be on our way.

In the Bible, the number 40 is often associated with a time of testing or trials, and ends with a time of revival, renewal, or blessing. The Israelites faced one trial after another as they wandered in the desert. After 40 years, they were led into the Promised Land. Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil for 40 days. After He endured testing, the Bible says angels came and took care of Him.

The next 40 days will be significant for us as it will bring a time of testing, followed by what we trust will be a time of great blessing and revival among God's people all over the world. For all of our trips, I (Aly) have started writing in my journal long before we land in Uganda. I've found that the most drastic ups and downs we face each year happen in the 40 days leading up to our departure. It is my hope that in the next 40 days, I can update our blog daily with something that will show what's been happening as we prepare for this trip, whether it's joy, excitement, nerves, or just plain chaos.

We ask for your prayers in this time of testing and continue to thank you for taking this journey with us.
